Princess Nyah was born and raised in Harlesden in Northwest London, to an English mother and a Jamaican father. Raised on a musical diet of 80’s pop and revival music Princess name checks such musical greats as Soul2Soul and Janet Jackson as some of her earliest inspirations. Princess always interested in the performing arts sector. She would take part in every school cabaret and regularly attend dance and acting classes at Silvia Young theatre school to keep her busy. She is the eldest of two children and attended Convent of Jesus and Mary High School for girls in the heart of Harlesden.
Princess Nyah (originally called Ghetto Princess) was first known for her rapping ability, in 2004 which won a competition on Choice FM for creating a London anthem. “It’s a London thing” saw the likes of Mastersteps take note of her lyrical ability and flow in comparison to her counterparts. Aspiring to be a rapper Princess Nyah dawned our television screens in 2005 on Ras Kwame’s Spit TV for a freestyle medley.
Late 2006 Princess Nyah set up her very first company called Billionaire Girls Club. A society exclusive to ladies that would support other female artists, entrepreneurs alike with a female interactive website free of charge for females to use. Music always being a passion of hers she never lost site or focus of her dream to become a successful artist. Joining G*Fam a Hip Hop collective her skills developed as she made headway learning how to write and sing chorus’s. She developed her style and undertook work experience at an independent record lable to gain an insight into the music business behind the scenes that would help her own business.
Setting up a Fashion Company in 2008 Princess Nyah most defiantly makes it apparent that being a business woman is very important to her. Binghi’s Boutique an urban brand for men, women and kids grows from strength to strength as she assists other young fashion designers to set up shop she still remains very focused on her music career and plows many a late night into studio time.
In 2008 Princess Nyah’s writing ability exceeds expectations and her vocals on underground Funky House track “Frontline” storms to the forefront. The track that was regularly played on London pirate radio stations and throughout the club scene catapulted itself on to main stage radio. Having major support from the specialist DJ’s on Radio1, Kiss FM, Galaxy to name a few this track is defiantly one to watch for Summer 2009.
